Walmart Chelsea donates to SCAC

Walmart Chelsea provides community grant of $500.00 to SCAC to fund
ArtABilities at Chelsea HS. ArtAbilities is an art therapy class for
exceptional students with mental and physical challenges.
ArtABilities is a once-a-week arts education class for an 10-week period.
This class is offered in the school, during school hours. The students are
offered classes based on their age with no more than 8 children per class.
The Shelby County Arts Council will provide experienced and highly qualified
instructors. The special education teachers and aides will accompany the
instructors in the classroom.
Objectives for the Project:
- Provide therapy through sensory experiences (textures, manipulation of materials)
- Increase self-esteem and a sense of accomplishment
- Improve social skills though cooperative arts education activities
