SCAC Member Art Exhibit is Open at City of Chelsea Public LIbrary

The inaugural SCAC member exhibit is up at the City of Chelsea’s public library. Susan Dennis Gordon, Art and Education Director and the artists worked hard on Tuesday, January 31, filling the library with artwork. The artists for the first quarter’s exhibit are DeAnne Thorn, Karen Ingram and Scott Vaughn Owens. Each artist brings a unique style to the exhibit.  On a quarterly basis, new artwork by Shelby County Arts Council members will be exhibited.

Dana Polk, the city’s Librarian, along with her staff and visiting library patrons were thrilled with the edition of color to the library walls. Formerly, empty spaces have been transformed into an art gallery.    Artists, who are members of the Shelby County Arts Council, may apply to have their artwork featured. While in the library, many pieces of the artwork are available for sale. The SCAC will also feature the artwork in our on-line store.
If you are in the area, be sure to stop by and visit the library located at 41 Weldon Drive, just off Highway 47 behind the City Hall.    If you have any questions concerning the artwork or would like to purchase one of the paintings contact our office 205-669-0044.
We look forward to hearing your comments after your visit! This promises to be a wonderful partnership between the City of Chelsea Library and the Shelby County Arts Council.
