Patrick Mayton

Patrick Mayton completed his undergraduate BFA in Printmaking at the University of Montevallo in 1998.   He went on to complete a Masters of Fine Arts in Printmaking at Arizona State University in Phoenix, AZ in 2004.  As a graduate student he won the 2003 Nathan Cummings Travel Grant and was one of 4 Nominees for the Herberger College of Fine Arts TA of the year award.  With the travel grant he spent 2 months traveling the United States working as a visiting artist at three major letterpress shops-Hatch Show Print, Yee Haw Industries and the Hamilton Wood Type Museum.  For the past four years Patrick has taught a wide range of art classes at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, the University of Montevallo and Jefferson State Community College.  His specialties within printmaking are Woodcut, Letterpress, Screen print, Intaglio and Book Arts.  He considers himself a cheerleader for Art and is happiest when he is teaching.
