Pottery Workshop for Anagama Kiln Firing

Workshop on Wheel and hand building, create work for the Anagama firing using a special "dirty" porcelain formula. Each student gets a minimum of one cubic foot of space in the anagama.
Instructors - Alexander Schmidt and Kimberlee Bullock,
Alexander has fired 4 anagama kilns and has a 4.0 GPA as a UM senior. He specializes in wheel generated forms that he then cuts and alters to anticipate the ash and flash effects of the kiln.
Kimberlee is an older student who is doing very strong clay sculpture. She has teaching experience and is currently screen printing with slip onto clay surfaces which she then uses to generate sculpture.
Attendees should have experience throwing on the wheel and hand building to participate. This is not a beginner class. 40 lbs of Clay per student is included. Students will choose their best work for the anagama.
The Anagama kiln is located at the University of Montevallo campus. Students are invited to volunteer for a firing shift with an experienced team leader. The kiln firing is scheduled for mid- April and lasts 4 days.
