Chelsea Library and SCAC partner for ongoing Artist-Members Exhibits

Beginning in late January, artwork my artist-members of the Shelby County Arts Council will be on display at the city of Chelsea’s Public Library. Dana Polk, the library’s director, contacted Susan Gordon, the arts council’s Art and Education Director, to discuss use of the library’s wall space.

The outcome of the discussion will be a rotating quarterly exhibit housed at the library and curated by the Shelby County Arts Council. This is a unique opportunity for member-artists of the arts council to display their original work.  The artwork hanging in the library will be available for purchase through the Shelby County Arts Council. The artwork will also be added to the art’s council online store for ease of purchase.
“This is such great partnership for the artist, the library and the art’s council”, stated Susan Gordon, “The artist will submit their pieces for selection. Each piece will be carefully considered based on the quarter's theme.”
The Shelby County Arts Council is committed to supporting, nurturing, and promoting the arts and cultural opportunities in Shelby County, Alabama.   The arts council has gallery and class-room space on Mildred Street in Columbiana.  Area artists who are interested in participating in this unique and ongoing exhibit are asked to contact the Shelby County Arts Council at (205) 669-0044.
