Chelsea Kiwanis provides community grant to SCAC

Chelsea Kiwanis provides community grant of $500.00 to SCAC to fund
ArtABilities at Chelsea HS. ArtAbilities is an art therapy class for
exceptional students with mental and physical challenges.
ArtAbilities is a once-a-week arts education class for an 10-week period.
This class is offered in the school, during school hours. The students are
offered classes based on their age with no more than 8 children per class.
The Shelby County Arts Council will provide experienced and highly qualified
instructors. The special education teachers and aides will accompany the
instructors in the classroom.
- Provide therapy through sensory experiences (textures, manipulation of materials)
- Increase self-esteem and a sense of accomplishment
- Improve social skills though cooperative arts education activities
