Vision

The Shelby County Arts Council has forged a public-private partnership with the City of Columbiana and Shelby County in order to build a Community Arts Center in the new downtown commerce park. The new facility will provide space to house the Shelby County Arts Council’s educational programs in oil, acrylic and watercolor painting, drawing, pottery, jewelry making, theatre camps, dance, a youth orchestra and private instrument and voice lessons. Also housed in the Community Arts Center is a gallery with exhibitions from local and regional artists. The proposed 25,000 square-foot Arts Center will serve as a performance facility that will, at last, provide the community a venue with appropriate space and acoustics for professional productions. The facility will be a central gathering place for all cultural programs in the County and a home for the visual and performing arts that will have a transformative aesthetic and economic impact on the region. The arts education and performance facility will provide space and amenities not available elsewhere in the County and will grow a new cultural and arts audience for the region.
