Arts Center

The City of Columbiana gifted the portion of the business development site designated for the Arts Council’s facility, and the Columbiana Commercial Development Authority is providing technical advice and program funding for the remaining development space. The Arts Center will be located on one acre of a seven-acre site on the corner of West College Street and Summer Classics Way, just one block from the revitalized Main Street of Columbiana. The architectural and planning firm of HKW & Associates, led by architect Fred Keith, has designed the new facility which blends a functional education and performance center with an architectural style that reflects historic downtown Columbiana.

The Arts Center will provide multiple spaces for performance, education and exhibits for both indoor and outdoor event venues. The Black Box Theatre – with prop storage and dressing rooms – will have a stage and dance floor with movable seating for an audience of 450. Adjacent to the reception area and catering kitchen will be the art gallery which student, local and visiting artists can use to display their collections and host events. Classroom areas include a rehearsal hall for a youth orchestra, rooms for individual or group music lessons, a photography studio with dark room, an art studio with sinks and storage, a pottery studio, and a dance studio with high ceilings, mirrors, dance bars, and sprung wood floors.
