We at the Shelby County Arts Council are so excited to announce our Summer Theatre Workshops for Youth with Red Mountain Theatre Company! RMTC is a non-profit professional theatre organization with an emphasis on musical theatre. RMTC’s Youth Theatre Workshops are exciting, energizing, and highly educational. This year, the Shelby County Arts Council’s RMTC Summer Theatre Workshop will be held in the Auditorium at Shelby County High School in Columbiana from Monday, June 21 – Friday, June 25, 2010 from 8:30am – 4:30pm.

Here's what parents are saying about Red Mountain Theatre Workshop:

“Whether your child is a dance and acting maniac, loves to sing all the time, or if they have never performed, they will get something out of the workshop. Talent, confidence and friendships grow at the workshop.”

“RMTC Summer Workshop is one of the best run camps we've ever experienced-I've had 3 kids go through the workshops over the last 6 years and it just keeps getting better. They are exposed to top rate instructors, get to experience the joy and creativity of musical theatre, and come home energized, happy, and more confident.”

“I believe that the RMT workshop is a tremendous way to introduce young kids to the world of theatre, art and music should they have no other means to do so. It is a way to learn how to express ones self without being told to "settle" down. I believe this is an excellent door through which new talent may be guided through. “

“My child absolutely loved the RMTC summer workshop. She cried when it was over.”

 Private lessons for Youth Policy
In order to offer the highest quality private lessons in art and music, the SCAC requires at least one additional adult to be present during youth private lessons. If there are no adults besides the instructor present, the child’s parent or guardian is required to remain inside the building during the lesson.

We believe we have the highest quality instructors around! In order to guarantee this, we assess each instructor periodically on their performance via written evaluation by the SCAC Arts & Education Director, Susan Gordon, and by the students who take lessons with us! We also require a background check on each and every instructor.
